Effective Use of Tablets and
Web 2.0 Tools in the Classrooms


Preparation

Before starting the course, documentation related to the course will be sent to participants by e-mail. It will include local information and accommodation.

A Web page will be launched before the course so that all participants will get the whole details about the training and other information. The participants will be asked to prepare presentations about their countries and educational systems before the course. They will be asked to install some free software to their tablets and/or laptops in order not to lose time during the course

Objectives

Overall goal of the training is to help participant teachers acquire skills and attitudes about effective integration of tablets into classrooms. In order to achieve this goal, the training will try helping participant teachers;

• Discover how the tablet computer is different and similar than the traditional personal desktop/laptop computer.

• Discuss possible scenarios of how to store, distribute and receive digital content

• Understand how educational apps store, retrieve and share their data

• Interact with multiple examples of educational apps to differentiate instruction, enhance student engagement and learning.

• Identified key components of an effective student-centered activity

• Develop an assessment to support a student-centered tablet activity

• Develop a classroom mobile teaching scenario

• Created a working list of technology troubleshooting, classroom management solutions, and effective student group techniques.

Methodology

Design of the training is based on project-based learning approach. The participants will be completing a series of activities aligned with the objectives while the instructor will serve as a facilitator to foster the deep learning and as a model to the participants to show them the actual implementation of the skills targeted in the training.

While working on activities, the participants will also access theoretical knowledge about the content. An e-learning management system will be used during the delivery of the training. The system will work both a resource center and a showcase environment for the activity scenarios that will be designed and developed by the participants.

The training is organized into 3 modules: (1) Teaching and learning landscape of tablet computers, (2) introduction to educational apps and student centered activities, and (3) effective tablet management in the classroom.

Follow-Up

The e-learning management system will be used to as an open-platform for all the participants and the instructor to maintain to exchange information and experiences. All the materials will be available in the system as open education resource for the participants.
